Bio: Karen Helena is a leading professional dreadlock entrepreneur. She has an international clientele and has trained stylists in Canada, the United States and Europe. She learned basic dreadlocking during her hair apprenticeship in the late 1990s and in 2001 she opened her own full-service salon, Pretty Eclectic, with 6 stylists on Queen St W.
She was more interested in dreadlocks and extensions than management and continued developing better techniques. She opened her private studio Knot Just Dreads in the fall of 2004.
The next year she trained hairstylists at the Knotty Boy Lock Shop in Vancouver, BC and at the Dollylocks Studio in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Karen is the author of the Knotty Boy Dreadlock Manual used for the Knotty Boy Loctician Training & Education.
In 2008 Karen was a top 10 finalist on Slice's Superstar Hair Challenge, produced and hosted by celebrity stylist Marc Anthony.
Today she has perfected her techniques and continues to service her clientele in her studio in downtown Toronto and abroad.
